Reaching Out to The Homeless

Homelessness and Hunger In Florida

We are living in a society where food waste is over the top. Yet, there are millions of people who are living on the streets not knowing where their first or last meal will come from.

According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Florida had an estimated 27,487 people experiencing homelessness on any given day as of January 2020.

Hunger, a recurring issue around the world, is even more common among the homeless. There are millions of homeless people living on the streets not knowing where their next meal will come from. In fact, according to Feeding America, 2,567,300 people In Florida are facing hunger - and of them 723,540 are children.

Serving The Community

Earlier this year in August ELEVATE THEM developed a program where we provide the homeless in the South Florida area with hot homemade meals, care bags, clothes, and hygiene products. Our small group comes together twice a month on the weekends to make this a possibility. Our goal is to expand our reach and work with local shelter programs to help facilitate the transition for those wanting to move from the streets to a shelter.

Homeless Health Saftey and COVID-19

People have been hesitant to go out to assist the homeless since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, this was a time where they needed help more than ever. In addition to our usual provisions, we also handed out masks and hand sanitizer for their health and safety.

In the future Elevate Them plans to expand its reach to help an even greater number of the homeless population.
